What’s one thing you are most afraid of?

I despise spiders. I don’t trust the way they move.

What’s something you look forward to?

A f***ing good night’s worth of sleep with nothing to do the next day!

Broccoli roasted with some salt, lemon and chili oil, sprinkled with parmesan.

What do you do for fun?

I love to drink, bake and cook. I refuse to be in the kitchen sober.

The most difficult year of your life?

The year 2000, when the Spice Girls went on indefinite hiatus. I still haven’t let that one go. My best friend at the time has a family video where I’m pouting in front of the TV when the announcement was made. We didn’t cry, but we were close!

What would you change about yourself?

I don’t know what I would change. Wait! I would want red hair.

Your hero?

I don’t actually have one but there are some people who have influenced me that come to mind. Bjork, Tilda Swinson and Joan of Arc.

What’s the one thing in the last 24 hours that made you happy?

I didn’t know I was going to be here (NORWAC) so I had nothing to wear to the banquet. Went to Value Village and found a dress. A yellow dress. That made me happy.

Your favorite childhood memory?

The time I flew by myself from London to Austin, Texas. I was underage. Eight years old. They upgraded me to first class and I had the whole section to myself.

What is your most vivid memory?

My family didn’t often camp but one year we went camping in the mountains of Santa Fe. In the middle of the night I had to pee. That meant I had to put my pants on. One leg was really narrow, the other leg relly wide. I walked out of the tent with my parents, got to the camp bathroom, turned the light on and I had my sweatshirt on, not my pants. One leg was in the arm, the other in the main body of the sweatshirt. What’s more, I stretched out what was my favorite sweatshirt!

Oh, there are so many good super powers. I am going to go for being able to transport myself long distances. I am tired of flying back and forth from Australia to North America.

What do you do to relax or recalibrate?

I go to the woods or I run by myself in the woods, listening to music. And the music has to be really loud. But only in one ear. I have to be able to listen for bears and cougars (my husband and I have a cabin in the Kootenays in Canada).
