2008 Marion D. March Regulus Awards
• List of 2008 Regulus Categories
and Nominees, plus past nominees and recipients
Astrologers around the world look forward to the high point of the United Astrology
Conference (UAC), the Marion D. March Regulus Awards Banquet, where we enjoy good food and entertainment
while honoring our peers.
To celebrate outstanding accomplishment in each of five categories, we present the Regulus Award,
a beautiful marble statuette in the shape of a pyramid. The Regulus tradition began at UAC '89 in New Orleans,
Louisiana, and continued at UAC '92 in Washington D.C.; at UAC '95 in Monterey, California; at UAC ’98 in
Atlanta, Georgia; and at UAC 2002 in Orlando, Florida. We will again honor the Award recipients at UAC 2008
in Denver, Colorado.
The voting process began in 2006 when the UAC committees were formed. At that time, the entire
astrological community was invited to send in their suggestions for nominees to the Awards Committee, an
eight-member panel consisting of two representatives from AFAN, ISAR and NCGR, one representative from CVA,
and a non-voting Chair.
The response from the community for nominations was excellent with a dozen or more names
suggested in each category. Some were suggested for more than one category and since a nominee may be
named in only one category, the committee evaluated their significant accomplishments and placed them in the
most appropriate category.
To arrive at the final slate of nominees, the committee met to discuss each of the
nominees to narrow the list to ten in each category, then each of the seven voting committee members sent a
secret list of their top six choices in each category to an independent outside person for tabulation. The top
five nominees in each category appear on the final ballot, which is sent by each of the UAC sponsoring
organizations to its membership. The member voting determines the Regulus honorees.
